About
The Blue Hare offers dog-friendly self-catering lodgings on the Isle of Harris. Our concept involves a light-touch extension to our croft, designed to accommodate one or two guests and their dog. We've carefully chosen the location to ensure that Blue Hare blends seamlessly with its surroundings, providing privacy and stunning sea views. It's an ideal spot for cycling, walking, or even for yacht enthusiasts seeking a break from the waves. Secure bicycle storage is provided in a lockable shed, which can also be used to dry wetsuits after a refreshing sea swim.
Blue Hare's interior is finished to a high standard, offering a modern twist on the traditional bothy design. Large floor-to-ceiling windows provide breathtaking panoramic views of the Minch and the Isle of Skye from its elevated position. This unique vantage point allows you to observe various wildlife, including eagles, seals, whales, dolphins, and otters. Lingerbay loch and bay offer a range of activities such as fishing, wild swimming, stand-up paddleboarding, and kayaking.
Inside, you'll find a spacious open-plan room with a well-equipped kitchen featuring a washing machine, dishwasher, fridge, oven/microwave, and ceramic hob. There's also a dining area, comfortable armchairs, a log burner, and a queen-sized bed. Entertainment options include a wall-mounted TV, Roberts radio, and unlimited Wi-Fi. The bathroom is designed as a wet room with a rain shower, underfloor heating, and ample hot water. Outside, a large deck is perfect for yoga or stargazing, while a lower paved terrace serves as an ideal spot for breakfast or a barbecue.
Lingerbay is a convenient base for excursions to St Kilda from Leverburgh (just five miles away) or for a day at a sandy beach reachable within 15 minutes by car or 30 minutes by bike.
The Blue Hare boasts a unique elevated position, accessible via a path with a ramped entrance. Off-street parking is available at the foot of the path, and assistance is offered if you require help with carrying items up.
